ELIZABETHTOWN – Luke Bryant and Cole Brisson teamed up to pitch a 2-hitter and strikeout 12 batters Tuesday night to lead the Braves to a 9-3 Dixie Boys Baseball victory over the Rays at County Park.
Bryant started and struck out 9 batters in his 4 innings on the mound allowing 3 runs on 2 hits, 4 walks and 4 hit batters. Cole Brisson relieved and struck out the side in a 1-2-3 5th inning.
Jerod Smith was hit by a pitch in the Rays’ 1st inning, and Noah German knocked him in with a single. Jace Butler walked in the Rays’ 2nd inning and scored when Cameron Thompson laced a single to right-center field to bump the lead to 2-0.
The Braves rallied in the top of the 3rd inning. Chase Bryan walked and Bryant was hit by a pitch. Cole Brisson pounded a double to right-center field that plated Bryan. Gavin Brisson belted s single that plated Bryant and Cole Brisson for a 3-2 Braves lead.
Christopher Rorick walked and German was hit by a pitch in the Rays’ 3rd inning. Rorick scored to tie the game 3-3.
Ashton Davis slammed a double and scored the go-ahead run for the Braves in the 4th inning. Bryan, Devan Stanley, and Dalton Ammons drew walks in the Braves’ 5th inning. Gavin Brisson and Davis belted singles, and Bryan, Bryant, Stanley, Gavin Brisson and Ammons all scored to push the lead to 9-3.
Davis batted 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored and 2 runs batted in to lead the Braves hitters. Gavin Brisson finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and 3 RBIs. Cole Brisson doubled, scored a run and had an RBI. Bryan and Bryant scored 2 runs each. Stanley and Ammons scored 1 run each.
German singled and drove in a run for the Rays. Thompson cracked an RBI single. Smith, Butler and Rorick scored 1 run each.
Smith started and pitched 3 innings for the Rays allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks and a hit batter while striking out 7. Thompson worked 1-plus innings of relief and allowed 2 runs on a hit and a walk while striking out 2. Nicholas Prevatte pitched 0.1 innings of relief and allowed 4 runs on a hit, 2 walks and a hit batter. Samuel Cummings pitched 0.2 scoreless innings and gave up a hit and 2 walks while striking out 1.
