East Bladen’s Eagles were seeded No. 7 in the NCHSAA Class 2A Men’s Soccer Play-offs and will host No. 26 seed Midway in the opening round Wednesday night at 6 p.m.

Coach Jay Raynor’s Eagles won the Three Rivers Conference championship with a perfect 14-0 league record and 20-1 overall mark.

The Eagles have scored the most goals (140) of any team in Class 2A, and their defense is third best in 2A in goals allowed (12).

East Bladen defeated Midway twice early in the season by scores of 5-2 and 4-1.

Midway finished fifth in the 7-team East Central Conference with a 3-9 league record and 9-11 overall mark. By contrast West Bladen finished third in the 8-team Three Rivers Conference with a 7-6-1 league record, but their 7-9-2 overall record did not get them a play-off spot.

Whiteville, the second-place team in the Three Rivers, received No. 16 seed in the East and will host No. 17 East Montgomery.

An East Bladen victory would advance the Eagles to a second round home game against the winner of No. 10 Clinton (18-5) and No. 23 North Carolina School of Science & Math (12-5-1).
