BLADENBORO – Jalyn Newkirk ran for three touchdowns to lead Bladenboro to a 35-6 Bladen Five Middle School Conference football victory over Tar Heel Monday night.
Gary Parker intercepted a pass and returned it for a Bulldog touchdown. Alex Strange intercepted two Tar Heel passes for the Bulldogs, and his brother, Devon Strange, also picked off a pass.
Quarterback Devon Strange threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Mitchell, and teammate Ricky Brisson carried into the end zone for a 2-point conversion. Jordan Porter kicked a field goal for the other Bladenboro score.
“I am so proud of this team,” said Bladenboro Coach Jerry Strange. The Bulldogs tied Clarkton School of Discovery for second place in the league with a 3-3 record.
