ROWLAND – East Bladen’s Lady Eagles ran their winning streak to fifteen games in a row Wednesday night with a 57-37 victory at South Robeson in Three Rivers Conference girls basketball action.

The Lady Eagles retained their 2-game lead in the league standings with a 14-1 record and are 19-1 overall. East Bladen played Wednesday without leading scorer Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson who was out with the flu.

Sophmore Patience Ward led the Lady Eagles with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 steals. Senior Shardajah Brown helped pick up the scoring load in Moore-Peterson’s absence by firing in 12 points and grabbing 5 rebounds.

Junior Erica McKoy filled up the stat sheet for the winners with 10 points, 8 steals, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Junior Ashley Hardin tossed in 6 points. Sophmore Lorna Mendell collected 5 rebounds, and sophmore Izzy Smith and junior Anna Kate White added 4 rebounds each.

The Lady Eagles raced to a 19-7 first quarter lead and widened the gap to 31-13 at halftime. The East Bladen lead grew to 45-24 after 3 quarters.

East Bladen will travel to East Columbus Friday night.
