WHITEVILLE – Junior Dylan Lawson pitched a one-hitter and struck out ten batters to lead Whiteville to an 11-1 Three Rivers Conference baseball victory over West Bladen Friday night.

Lawson walked two batters, hit a batter and gave up a sixth inning single to sophmore Jake Butler.

The Knights took a 1-0 first-inning lead when sophmore Dawson Bryan drew a lead-off walk, advanced on Logan West’s fielder’s choice and a passed ball then raced home on senior Scott Bowen’s sacrifice fly.

Back-to-back doubles by Dylan Hamilton and Brooks Baldwin produced the tying run for Whiteville in the home first. A single and an error led to a go-ahead run in the Wolfpack second.

Doubles by Hamilton and Lincoln Ransom keyed a 2-run Whiteville third inning and upped the count to 4-1. The Wolfpack tacked on 4 more runs in the fourth then ended the game on the ten-run rule with 3 sixth inning runs.

Baldwin batted 4-4 with a double, 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored. Hamilton doubled twice and scored 4 runs. The Wolfpack totaled 11 hits in the game.

Bowen struck out five batters in his 5.2 innings on the mound for West Bladen.

The Knights will travel to West Columbus Friday night.
