ELIZABETHTOWN – A 14-1 second quarter blitz propelled West Brunswick to a 43-30 non-conference boys basketball victory over East Bladen Monday.
The Eagles built an early 11-6 lead as senior Keshaun Davis drained a 3-point shot and another basket. Seniors Darrell Banks and Bryon Bowen and sophmore Javant McDowell tossed in baskets for East in the quarter.
Senior Alex Younts threw in a pair of second-period baskets to lead the Trojan spurt, and junior center Jadyn Parker dropped in a basket and a free throw as the visitors raced to a 20-12 halftime lead.
Senior Greyson Heustess pumped in two baskets in the third quarter for the Eagles, and Banks drilled in a 3-point shot. Davis and McDowell added baskets to keep East within 33-23 at the quarter break.
Davis, Banks and senior Robbie Cooley popped in baskets for the Eagles in the final quarter.
Junior J’vian McCray lit up the scoreboard with 4 baskets and 4 free throws in the second half and led the Trojans with 14 points. Parker finished with 10 points, and Younts followed with 9 points.
Davis led the Eagles with 10 points, and Banks totaled 7 points. Heustess and McDowell tallied 4 points each.
The Eagles will travel to Red Springs Friday night for a Three Rivers Conference game.
