FAIRMONT – Taylor West pitched a 3-hitter and struck out six batters to lead West Bladen to a 16-1 victory over Fairmont in Three Rivers Conference jayvee softball action.

West and Kylee Ward cracked singles to highlight a 5-run second inning for the Lady Knights. West also scored a run. Hailey Guyton and Madison Walters drew walks and scored runs. Briley Stanley was hit by a pitch and scored a run, and Ryleigh Bailey reached base on a passed third strike and scored a run.

Guyton reached base on an error and scored a run in the third inning, and Fairmont trimmed the lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the third.

The Lady Knights exploded for 9 runs in the fourth inning. Walters and Kayla Norris were hit by pitches and scored runs. West, Ward, Armani Cowan and Bailey drew walks and scored runs. Guyton knocked in 2 runs with a single, and Stanley reached base on an error and scored.

Walters belted a 2-run single and scored her second run of the inning when Ward hammered a 3-run home run to leftfield for a 15-1 lead. Guyton hammered a double and scored the final run in the sixth inning.

Ward finished 2-3 at the plate with the 3-run homer and 2 runs scored. Guyton also batted 2-3 with a double, a run batted in and 3 runs scored. Walters ripped the 2-run single and scored twice. West also singled and scored twice.

Coach Joe Lewis’ Lady Knights will travel to Red Springs Friday.
