SHALLOTTE – Northwest Guilford pounded out 12 hits en route to a 14-3 victory over East Bladen Wednesday in the Touchstone Energy Diamond Beach Softball Invitational Tournament.

The Lady Vikings turned a bunt single, two walks and an error into a 3-run first inning rally.

Senior Anna Kate White blasted a triple to rightfield to begin the Lady Eagle second inning. Senior Olivia Hollingsworth laid down a bunt that scored White, and an error on the play allowed Hollingsworth to reach first base.

Junior Lorna Mendell belted a single to rightfield, and junior Abbie Cross beat out a bunt single that scored Hollingsworth and trimmed the lead to 3-2.

The Lady Vikings capitalized on a hit batsman, two errors and a single to stretch the Northwest lead to 6-2 in the home half of the second.

Junior Meghan Young led off the Lady Viking fourth with a single, an error put another runner on base and sophmore Cori McMillan hammered a triple as the Northwest lead grew to 9-2.

Cross drilled a double to centerfield in the East Bladen fifth, and sophmore Kayleigh Raynor ripped a double to left that scored Cross.

Northwest turned six hits and an error into five runs in the sixth inning.

White batted 2-3 with a triple and a run scored for the Lady Eagles, and Cross finished 2-3 at the plate with a double, a run batted in and a run scored. Raynor doubled home a run, and Mendell and Hollingsworth added one hit each. Hollingsworth scored a run.

Sophmore Jordan Kinlaw pitched a complete game for the Lady Eagles.

Sophmore Alyssa Kropski pitched a complete game 7-hitter for the Lady Vikings and allowed 2 earned runs while striking out five.

McMillan batted a perfect 3-3 with a double, a triple, an rbi and 3 runs scored. Young finished 4-5 at the plate with an rbi and 3 runs scored. Kropski and Moberg slammed doubles for Northwest.
