A six-run fourth-inning rally propelled the Slammers to a 9-6 victory over the Comets in Bladen Recreation’s 13-16 Fast-Pitch Softball League action Thursday night.

With the Comets up 5-3, a walk to Kaitlynn Brisson and Kadance Hammonds’ single started the winning rally. Taylor West hammered a 2-run triple that tied the game 5-5. West and Kennedy Carroll who had walked both scored as the lead grew to 9-5.

West pitched 3 innings to pick up the win, striking out four and allowing 4 hits and 5 runs. Hammonds worked an inning of relief in the circle for the Slammers.

Brisson and Kylee Ward drew walks to start the game, and Hammonds ripped a 3-run inside-the-park home run into the rightfield corner for a 3-0 Slammer lead.

The Comets answered with 4 runs in the home first. Briley Stanley led off with a single, and Hannah Pait and McKenzie Singletary drew walks. Madison Taylor drove in Stanley, and Hailey Guyton knocked in Hannah Pait and Singletary with a single. Lauren Pait walloped a triple that scored Guyton.

Lauren Council cracked a single and scored a Comet run in the second inning.

Hammonds batted 2-for-2 with the 3-run homer and 2 runs scored to lead the Slammers. Taylor Lewis and West smashed triples, and Gabrielle Pait added a single. West drove in 2 runs, and Lewis and Molly Keiper drove in one run each. Brisson and West scored 2 runs each, and Ward, Carroll, and Lewis scored runs.

Singletary and Lauren Pait blasted triples to lead the Comet hitters. Guyton, Council and Stanley connected for one hit each. Guyton drove in 2 runs, and Taylor and Lauren Pait drove in one run each. Singletary scored twice, and Stanley, Hannah Pait and Council scored one run each.

Taylor and Singletary shared the pitching duties for the Comets.
