TABOR CITY – Tabor City’s Red Devils rode a 15-4 spurt to a 25-11 halftime lead en route to a 49-24 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys basketball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery Monday night.
Lee Barnes tossed in 2 baskets and a free throw, and Ja’Nathan Johnson sank 2 free throws to keep Clarkton within 10-7 at the first quarter break. Tabor City’s Johnson scored 9 of his game-high 18 points as the Red Devils built the 25-11 lead.
Rodney Lacewell threw in a pair of third period baskets for CSD, and Barnes pumped in a basket and a free throw. Blaine Pope and Matt Kemp added a basket each to keep the Blue Devils within 35-22 at the third quarter break.
Barnes led the Clarkton scoring with 12 points, and Lacewell finished with 4 points. CSD will return to action on Jan. 9th at Nakina.
