BLADENBORO – A 16-10 closing run propelled Whiteville to a 41-38 Three Rivers Conference jayvee boys basketball victory over West Bladen Friday night.

C. Rone scored 16 points, and K. Ganus and D. Thompson added 11 points each to lead the Wolfpack.

Anthony Cowan pumped in 4 points, and Keshawn Ballard and Javonta Matthews added baskets as the Knights grabbed an early 8-6 lead. Matthews drilled in a 3-pointer, and Ballard tossed in a basket and 2 free throws to keep West up 15-14 at halftime.

Matthews dropped in 2 baskets, Ballard drained a 3-pointer and a free throw, and Josiah Brown popped in a basket and a free throw to pad the Knight lead to 28-25 at the third quarter break.

Anthony Mitchell threw in 2 baskets, and Matthews and Cowan bombed in 3-pointers in the final quarter for West Bladen.

Matthews topped the Knight scoring with 12 points, and Ballard followed with 10 points. Cowan finished with 7 points.

The Knights, now 3-4, will host West Columbus on Jan. 3rd.
