CLARKTON – Alaya White fired in 14 points to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 33-12 Waccamaw Middle School girls’ basketball victory over Tabor City Thursday.

White drilled in a 3-point basket and another shot in the first period, and Shy’Asia Ratliff worked inside for a basket and 2 free throws. Mialanni McDowell tossed in a basket as the Lady Blue Devils built an 11-4 lead.

An 11-2 Clarkton second period spurt was keyed by 3 baskets and a free throw from White. Gabby Nealy and ShaNidra Richardson threw in baskets as the halftime lead grew to 22-6.

Ratliff drained a 3-point shot and a free throw in the third quarter. Richardson powered in a basket, and Kaniyah Hairston made a free throw to push the lead to 29-6. White and Richardson connected for fourth quarter baskets for Clarkton.

Ratliff finished with 8 points for the winners, and Richardson followed with 6 points. C. Smith scored all 12 Tabor City points.

Coach Chris Callihan’s Lady Blue Devils, now 4-1 in Waccamaw Division A play and 4-2 overall, will host Nakina Monday.
