CERRO GORDO – Xia Phair tossed in 2 baskets to key an 8-1 second quarter spurt that propelled West Bladen to a 22-9 Three Rivers Conference jayvee girls basketball victory over West Columbus Tuesday.
Freshman Makayla Wright fired in a 3-point shot, and freshman Whitney McLean pumped in a 15-footer to keep the Lady Knights tied at 5-5. The two baskets by Phair plus baskets from Wright and Cassi Humphrey opened up a 13-6 West Bladen halftime lead.
Wright tossed in a basket and a free throw in the second half and led the Lady Knight scoring with 8 points. Azillyah McDonald, Kirsten Warrick and Anasia Baxley scored final quarter baskets for West Bladen.
Phair finished with 4 points for the Lady Knights, while center Armony Strickland led West Columbus with 8 points.
Coach Wade Pait’s Lady Knights, now 4-10, will host St. Pauls Friday.
