TABOR CITY – Natalee Sykes fired in 9 of her game-high 12 points during a 12-2 opening run that propelled Bladenboro’s Lady Bulldogs to a 24-6 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory over Tabor City Wednesday.

Sykes nailed a 3-point shot and added 3 more baskets to the decisive opening spurt. Teammate Addison Wilcox buried a 3-point shot in the quarter.

Kali Allen, Zybriona Johnson, Jaylen Clark and Karlee Gause all tossed in a basket each in the 2nd period for Bladenboro. Sykes sank 2 free throws as the halftime lead grew to 22-4. Sykes and Allen netted 1 free throw each in the 2nd half. Allen and Wilcox followed Sykes on the Bladenboro scoring list with 3 points each.

Coach Otis Evans’ Bulldogs, now 2-0, will host Clarkton School of Discovery Thursday at 4 p.m.
