ST. PAULS – Center Rodney Lacewell powered in 13 of his game-high 15 points in the 2nd half Tuesday to lead East Bladen to a 35-29 Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee boys basketball victory over St. Pauls.

Lacewell dropped in 2 baskets and 3 free throws in the 3rd period to spark a 16-6 Eagle run that overcame an 11-7 Bulldog halftime lead. Teammate Peyton Tatum tossed in a pair of baskets during the rally. Darius Williamson bombed in a 3-point shot, and Zac Metz netted a basket as the Eagles took a 23-17 lead.

Lacewell muscled in 3 more baskets in the final quarter. Teammate Chace Butler sank 2 free throws and a basket, and Sherman Long added a basket as the Eagles maintained their lead.

Tatum and Butler followed Lacewell with 4 points each for the winners. Markeon Fletcher topped the St. Pauls scoring with 13 points.

Shannon Hankins buried a 3-point shot, and Lacewell worked the paint for a basket to keep the Eagles tied at the 1st quarter break. Blaine Pope pumped in the only East basket in the 2nd period.

Coach Aking Elting’s Eagles improved to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in league play and will host Fairmont Thursday at 4:30.
