ELIZABETHTOWN – Issac McKellar and Naishon Davis scored 10 points each to lead Fairmont to a 40-30 Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee boys basketball victory over East Bladen Thursday night.

A pair of Alex Stephens’ 3-point baskets jumped the Tornadoes to an early 9-6 lead. Peyton Tatum and Lee Barnes answered with Eagle baskets, and teammates Darius Williamson and Rodney Lacewell added free throws.

Davis bombed in a pair of 3-point baskets and tacked on another basket in the 2nd period. Sherman Long nailed a 3-point shot for East, and Shannon Hankins sank 3 free throws to keep the Eagles within 21-12 at halftime.

Lacewell powered in a trio of baskets in the 3rd period to rally East. Hankins converted 2 free throws, and Tatum netted a basket to trim the Fairmont lead to 28-22.

Hankins buried a 3-point shot and 2 free throws in the final quarter and led the Eagle scoring with 10 points. Lacewell tossed in 2 more free throws and finished with 9 points for East. Barnes cashed in a free throw in the quarter.

The Eagles, now 2-3 in SAC-7 play and 5-5 overall, will travel to Fairmont for a 5 p.m. game Monday.
