FAIRMONT – Freshmen Brady Durden and Garrett Dunham combined to pitch a 5-hit shutout and strike out 11 batters as West Bladen blanked Fairmont 8-0 Friday in Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee baseball action.
Durden pitched 4 innings and allowed 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 9 batters. Dunham pitched 1 inning of relief and gave up 1 hit and struck out 2 batters.

Sophomore Will Durden batted a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and a run batted in to lead the Knight hitters. Dunham doubled, drove in a run and scored two. Freshman Hezekiah Blanks-Adams doubled and scored twice. Brady Durden singled and had an RBI. Freshmen Cade Allen and Luke Pait scored 1 run each.
Sophomore Andre Moore walked in the Knight 1st inning and dashed home when Dunham drilled a double to center field. Dunham scooted home on a wild pitch for a 2-0 West lead.
Blanks-Adams lined a double to left to begin the West Bladen third. Moore, Dunham and Allen drew walks to force home Blanks-Adams. Moore darted home on a wild pitch. Brady Durden knocked in Dunham with a single, and Will Durden laced a single to center that scored Allen. Pait, the courtesy runner for Brady Durden, scampered home on a wild pitch to pad the lead to 7-0.
Blanks-Adams walked and scored the final Knight run on an error in the 4th inning.
Coach Scott Bowen’s Knights improved to 2-2 in league play and 5-2 overall.
