Four East Bladen players scored in double-figures Tuesday as the Eagles rolled to a 71-47 boys basketball victory over East Columbus in the Woodmen Life Christmas Tournament at West Bladen.

Senior Jermaine Robinson topped the East Bladen scoring with 18 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Junior Eian Hines pumped in 14 points and collected 8 rebounds. Sophmore Sincere Smith threw in 13 points and pulled down 8 rebounds.

Junior Ethan Hines, Eian’s twin brother, finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Junior Derrick Burney led the Eagle rebounding with 11. Senior Chris Cromartie corralled 4 rebounds. East Bladen outrebounded the Gators 44-30.

Cromartie muscled in a rebound, Robinson netted 2 free throws, and Ethan Hines drained a 3-point shot to stake the Eagles to an early 7-3 lead.

Senior Dayvon Powell turned a steal into a lay-up, and Smith pounded the boards for a pair of follow-shots. Eian Hines knocked down a 3-point shot to give the Eagles a 16-11 lead at the quarter break.

Cromartie hit 2 free throws, and freshman Adonis Avery and Smith nailed 3-point shots for a 24-13 East Bladen lead. Rebound baskets by Smith and Robinson kept the Eagles up 28-16 at halftime.

Eian Hines drove for a lay-up, stole the ball and dropped in another lay-up. Robinson converted an Ethan Hines assist into a 3-point play and scooped in a pair of lay-ups as the lead stretched to 40-20.

Burney powered in a rebound, and Ethan Hines popped in a 12-footer. Two free throws from Smith and two more from Robinson and lay-ups by Robinson, Eian Hines and Smith upped the count to 54-26 at the third quarter break.

Ethan Hines buried a 3-point shot and combined with his brother Eian for a pair of lay-ups as the Eagles racked up 17 points in the final quarter.

Juniors Alex Moore and Travin Squires led the Gator scoring with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

East Bladen improved to 3-6 and will play Whiteville at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the tourney’s fifth-place game. East Columbus will battle South Brunswick Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the seventh-place game.
