West Columbus rallied with 5 runs in the fifth inning and added 5 more in the seventh to pull away from East Bladen 12-6 Wednesday night in non-conference baseball action.

The Eagles grabbed a 3-1 first inning lead and tacked on single runs in the second and fourth innings to take a 5-3 lead into the top of the fifth.
Three East Bladen pitchers had worked in Tuesday’s 9-7 loss to Midway. Freshman Sincere Smith who pitched 2 innings Tuesday started on the mound and limited the Vikings to 3 runs in 4 innings, while his teammates built the 5-3 lead.
However, the Vikings rallied against the Eagle bullpen in the fifth. Sophomore Gage Hammonds batted 4-6 with a double and scored 4 runs for the Vikings. Star outfielder Eric Jenkins belted 2 doubles and finished 3-4 with 2 doubles.
Senior Cole Strickland drove in 3 Viking runs with a 3-4 game, and teammate Marvin Edge was 2-4 with 4 runs batted in.
Junior outfielder Nikita Owens walloped 2 doubles and a single to lead the Eagles’ 13-hit attack. Smith hammered a double and a triple for the Eagles, and senior Colby Hester slammed a double and a single.
Sophomore catcher Kyle Tatum knocked in 2 runs with a single, and junior Tyquan McMillian smacked an opposite-field double.
Freshman Ty Watkins connected for a single for East Bladen, and junior Alex Coates added a bunt single.
The Eagles, now 3-4 on the season, will host Clinton Friday night.
