East Bladen High SchoolDUNN – Josh McKoy and Spencer Scott combined to pitch a 3-hitter Thursday night and led East Bladen’s jayvees to a 5-1 Four County Conference baseball victory over Midway.

McKoy pitched 4.1 innings to pick up the win, struck out 6 batters and allowed an unearned run on 3 hits, 4 walks and 2 hit batters. Scott relieved in the fifth inning and pitched a scoreless, hitless 1.2 innings striking out one.

Back-to-back-to-back 2-out singles by Scott, Pierce Melvin and McKoy produced an Eagle run in the first inning. Scott scored, and McKoy drove in the run.

Davis Alsup drew a lead-off walk in the East second inning, and freshman Jake Evans cracked a one-out single. Gabe Barber’s force-out retired Evans, but freshman Jordan Robinson knocked in Alsup and Barber with a single that pushed the lead to 3-0.

Barber walked in the fourth inning and raced home when Scott hammered a double. Melvin reached on an error as Scott scored the fifth Eagle run.

Scott batted 2-3 with a double, 2 runs scored and a run batted in. McKoy also finished 2-3 at the plate with an rbi. Robinson batted 2-4 with 2 rbi’s.

Holden Clark, Melvin, Alsup and Evans connected for one hit each. Barber scored 2 runs, and Alsup scored one.

East Bladen improves to 6-1 in the Four County and 8-2 overall. The Eagles will travel to Clinton Tuesday.
