Bladenboro native Abbey Walters pitched a 9-inning, 4-hitter as Southeastern Community College walked off with a 2-1 softball victory over visiting Louisburg College Wednesday in the second game of a double-header.

Walters, a sophomore, struck out six and walked none as she raised her pitching record to 5-2. The West Bladen grad batted 2-4 and scored a run on Haley Tolley’s double. Shortstop Bobbie McDaniel slugged a home run for the other Lady Ram run.

Louisburg won Wednesday’s first game 3-0. West Bladen grad Robin Coleman pitched the first 5 innings for SCC and allowed only 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 2 and walking none.

Walters slammed a double and stole a base in the first game.

On Tuesday Southeastern swept a double-header from Potomac State College of West Virginia by scores of 9-1 and 5-2.

In Game One, Walters slammed 2 doubles and knocked in 4 runs with a perfect 4-4 performance at the plate.  She also scored a run and stole a base.

Coleman pitched a 4-hitter and struck out 5, while walking only one to pick up the victory. Coleman batted 2-4 and stole a base.

The game was stopped by the college softball run rule after 5 innings.

Walters pitched 5 innings to pick up the win in the second game and allowed only an unearned run on 3 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 4. Walters also singled, stole a base and scored a run.

Bladenboro native and West Bladen grad Kaitlin Sykes caught 3 of the 4 games for the Lady Rams who are now 7-11 on the season.
