Many neighborhoods in Bladen County spent Saturday celebrating the Fourth of July holiday.

Cape Owen Manor held their annual neighborhood parade Saturday morning and the Bay Tree Lakes subdivision held their celebration Saturday afternoon.

Bay Tree Lakes celebrated the event all day Saturday. The day began with a “Fishing Frenzy” for kids at 8 a.m. followed by a children’s parade. Parents pitched in and helped the children in the neighborhood decorate golf carts, four wheelers and bicycles and scooters in their most spirited Red, White and Blue. Following the parade, an ice cream social was held along with a pool party and the grand finale–fire works.

While Mother Nature got in a few fireworks of her own before 9 p.m., a crowd gathered at the Bay Tree Lakes Club House and shortly after 9 p.m. the snaps, booms and pops of fireworks filled the air. The crowed issued their own sounds of “oohs and ahhs” of approval and applause were the order of the evening.

Don’t forget the annual Fourth of July Sidewalk Sale is continuing in Elizabethtown on Monday and the Elizabethtown-
White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will close out the Fourth of July holiday with fireworks at Goldston’s Beach at dark (about 9 p.m.) at White Lake Monday night.
