Clarkton’s Leonard McKoy was named for the All-East team by the Raleigh News and Observer for the 1977 season. The sophomore center was the only Bladen player named on the 10 man All East team. 

Tar Heel’s Forward Teddy Melvin was another honorable mention. Melvin was known his stellar shooting to go along with 17 points a game as his East Cape Fear squad, would finish as the runner ups.

McKoy’s teammates Johnny Jones and Leonard’s brother George were honorable mentions. Center Johnny Jones finished his senior year with a high recording of 15 points and was the team’s best rebounder and defender for the season.  Lead guard George McKoy was also a senior that led the chargefor Clarkton as he led all Blue Devils in pointswith 22 a game.

Leonard Mckoy finished his sophomore year with 17.3 points a game to go along with 15 rebounds as he led the Blue Devils to the 1-A State Finals.
