Many people are off of work and school during the holiday season, which may leave extra time at home to train a new pet. Dr. Teresa Duncan with Bladen County Health and Human Services announced the Bladen County Animal Shelter will hold an Adoption Special this month.

The event will run from December 6 through December 31, 2021. Adoption Special Fees are: $40-$45 for dogs and $30 for cats. The fees include core and rabies vaccinations and a Microchip placement.

Make an appointment for a meet and greet with furry friends by calling 910-862-6918.

When a pet is adopted from the shelter it saves a life and allows more room at the shelter for an animal in need of a warm bed. Before adopting a pet during the holidays make sure there is time scheduled for training and bonding with the pet.

One animal non-profit, foundanimals.org, suggests, instead of surprising a family member with a pet, you can give them a card saying you’re getting a new dog or cat. This way the whole family can go look for a new animal together. When you go to the shelter, all members of the family can visit with each pet and cast a vote over which animal they think is best.

Bladen County Animal Shelter is located at 506 Smith Circle in Elizabethtown, NC.
