The Clarkton Town Board appointed a committee to establish qualifications for selecting an engineering firm for phase 2 of the town’s 201 Sewer Upgrading Project. The committee consisted of Mayor Dan Meshaw, town commissioners Linda Revels and Lawrence McDougald.
Bladen County’s unemployment rate in April 1985 was 9.9%.
Bladen tobacco grower Gary Pait filed a law suit against W.R. Grace & Co. stating his tobacco crop was damaged from a chemical in Grace’s fertilizer.
