Here were some of the stories making news in Bladen County in 1973:

• The Elizabethtown Jaycettes elected the following officers: Sylvia Campbell, President, Judy Cross, Vice President, Crystal Simmons, Recording Secretary, and Doll Priest, Treasurer. Elizabethtown Jaycees also elected new officers: Mike Simmons, President, Vice Presidents Jim Hill, Bobby Guyton and Joe Bostic, Directors Jim McLaney and Jim Clark.

• Waccamaw Bank and Trust Company applied for a branch in Elizabethtown.

• Bladen Auto Dealer’s Association President David Clark presented a check to Bladen Technical College to be used for scholarships.
