*Mrs. Ann Hood, Director of Cultural Arts, appointed two Bladen women of Sencland Crafts, Inc. to the Arts and Crafts Festival Committee. They were Mrs. Thomas Schiefer and Mrs. C.L. McDuffie.
*Ms. Kay Scholar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Scholar of White Oak was first runner up in the Premier Soya Contest held in Raleigh.
*Edd Nye of Elizabethtown and Rev. C.T. Bowen of Riegelwood filed for reelection to the Bladen County Board of Commissioners.
