In anticipation of Hurricane Idalia, Bladen County is now under a Tropical Storm Warning. Emergency Management personnel are preparing to open the Emergency Operations Center with limited staff beginning at 9:00 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, August 30, 2023, through 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Extended hours will be dependent upon storm impact.

According to the National Weather Service, potential impacts to our area may include low to moderate winds and inland flooding due to predicted heavy rainfall. Therefore, Bladen County Government offices will operate on a two-hour delay for Thursday, August 31, 2023.

Currently, there are no plans to open shelters.

In the event of a power outage, back-up preparations should be made now for any oxygen concentrators or medical devices dependent on power for a minimum of 48 hours.

Residents should NOT call 9-1-1 to report power outages. Power outages should be reported to the appropriate power company:

Currently, Bladen County has not issued a state of emergency. Residents are urged to monitor local media outlets for updates as they occur.
