The entire Bladen County Board of Commissioners presented a Proclamation to Division on Aging Director Kelly Robeson and Senior Center Director Barbara McLaurin in recognition of National Senior Month.

This September, the National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC) is demonstrating how senior centers are integral parts of aging well. Senior centers are the key for individuals to age healthily, and also for communities to properly support older adults, according to ncoa.org.

The organization explains senior centers are the future of what aging can be. Innovative programs hosted at senior centers can change the perception of aging, and create important community resources for aging expertise.

The local commissioners gave a plaque to the senior center along with the Proclamation to honor the senior centers in Bladen County.

The main location for the Bladen County Senior Center is located at 608 McLeod Street in Elizabethtown. Other senior centers are located throughout Bladen County. For more information you may call Ms. McLaurin at 910-862-6330.
