Eleven-year old Holt Campbell placed 1st in the Jr. Youth category at the season’s first King Mackerel tournament at The Jolly Mon King Classic out of Ocean Isle Beach. The 2 day event attracted a large field of anglers.
Campell placed first in ‘Plane to Sea”, with his dad, Wesley S. Campbell, as Captain. Holt landed a 41.05 pound King Mackerel about 30 miles out to sea, about 20 miles from Myrtle Beach, S.C., Sunday.
The event is the season’s first King Mackerel tournament of the year and has grown to be one of the largest King Mackerel fishing tournaments in the country, annually hosting over 250 teams.
Campbell is a sixth grader and resides in Elizabethtown with his family, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley S. Campbell, and siblings.
