A Bladen County man lost his life in a fiery crash near Nakina on Wednesday night.

According to NC Highway Patrol Trooper M. Gore, a tanker truck driven by Albert Christopher Settlemyer, 39, of Clarkton ran off the roadway on N.C.  905 in an S-curve near Nakina. Trooper Gore said Settlemyer was driving southbound on NC 905 at the time of accident. After running off the road to the right, Settlemyer’s truck struck a ditch and a pole before catching fire and burning.

The tanker was owned by Reliable tank line of Winston-Salem, said Trooper Gore. The truck is believed to have been loaded with gasoline, according to the Highway Patrol.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
