ELIZABETHTOWN – The Comets rallied from an early 6-0 deficit and defeated the Force 11-8 Thursday night in Bladen Recreation 11-12 Softball action at Bladen County Park.

Joleigh Allen led off the game with a walk, Laikyn Rogerson smacked a single, and Makynzee Thompson walloped a 3-run inside-the-park home run to put the Force up 3-0. Savannah Ownbey singled, and Caylee Ownbey and Justice Brown drew walks. All 3 of them scored to stretch the Force lead to 6-0.

The Comets rallied in the bottom of the inning as Racquel Whittington led off with a single, and Kylee Spaulding walked. Both of them came around to score and trim the lead to 6-2.

Isabel Gardner, Alina Cathleen Vazquez and Spaulding drew walks in the Comet 2nd inning. Racquel Whittington and India Storms belted singles, and Gardner, Vazquez, Racquel Whittington and Spaulding all scored runs to tie the game 6-6.

Savannah Ownbey cracked a 2-out single in the Force 3rd inning. Amani Galdeen and Caylee Ownbey drew walks, and Savannah Ownbey and Galdeen both scored to put the Force back on top 8-6.

The Comets capitalized on 5 hits and 2 walks to score 5 runs in their half of the 3rd. Gardner led off with a single, and Ny’ashia Lyles and Vazquez drew walks. Gardner was retired at the plate, but Racquel Whittington singled.

One out later, Avianna Whittington, Rylee White and Storms connected for hits. Lyles, Vazquez, Racquel Whittington, Avianna Whittington and White all scored in the inning as the Comets went up 11-8.

Lilly Wells and Allen sandwiched walks around a Nay Tutt single in the top of the 4th to load the bases for the Force, but a double play ended the game.

Thompson slugged the 3-run homer, Savannah Ownbey batted 2-for-2, and Rogerson and Tutt added a single each for the Force.

Racquel Whittington batted 3-for-3 for the Comets. White and Storms both finished with 2-for-3 games at the plate. Gardner contributed a single.
