ELIZABETHTOWN – The Force built an early 12-0 lead and defeated the Thunder 12-5 Tuesday in Bladen Recreation 11-13 Softball action at Bladen County Park.
Mollie Sasser pitched a no-hitter and struck out 7 batters in 3 innings. Emma Adams pitched 2 innings for the Thunder and struck out 3 batters. Marissa Hall pitched 1 inning.
Chloe Merritt drew a lead-off walk in the Force 1st inning, and Addison Douglass knocked her in with a single. Emma Fisher walloped a 2-run homer that scored Douglas. Makynzee Thompson and Zariah Dill drew walks and scored runs, and Ruby Liggitt was hit by a pitch and scored a run as the Force went up 6-0.
Lilly Hester, Merritt, Sasser, Douglas and Fisher all drew walks in the 2nd inning and all of them scored runs. Thompson was hit by a pitch and scored a run as the lead grew to 12-0.
Delana Phillips and Kylie Murphy drew walks and scored in the Thunder 2nd inning to narrow the gap to 12-2. Anna Robinson, Kylee Spaulding and Phillips all drew walks and scored in the 3rd inning for the Thunder.
The Thunder had trimmed the lead to 12-5 and had 2 runners on base when shortstop Merritt snagged a line drive to end the game.
Liggitt and Chloe Mazur also smacked singles for the Force.
