Revised calendars, new school construction, and job vacancies are a few topics the Board of Education members heard about on Monday, November 8, 2021.

In a 5-4 vote at their meeting, the Board of Education voted not to require face coverings for students and staff for the next month. The Board is required to vote on the policy every month as required by legislation in Senate Bill 654.

Bladen County Schools Counselors Ms. Ruffin-Cox and Mr. Goins addressed the Board again this month about academic support for students, support for teachers, and crowding issues.

“Our high schools are set up for failure,” Ms. Ruffin-Cox stated.

Mr. Goins presented the three pages of job vacancies in Bladen County Schools, and he said, “It’s not getting any better, and you’re going to be losing some good people.”

Tonya Bunnell updated the latest Bladen County Schools job vacancies on the Schools’ website. The newest list of job vacancies may be viewed by clicking here.

Currently there are 37 Job Vacancies listed for Bladen County Schools.

Mr. Worley with Bladen County Schools gave an update on the Tar Heel School construction project.

Bladen County Schools Superintendant Dr. Atkinson reminded the Board about the Bladen County Board of Commissioners Special Meeting scheduled for November 22, 2021, at 5:30 pm. The purpose of the meeting is to receive an update regarding a Tar Heel School Construction Project. The meeting will be held in the Commissioners’ Room, located on the lower level of the Bladen County Courthouse, 106 East Broad Street, Elizabethtown, NC.
