The corner wall has been a piece of work for some time now in Bladenboro. Boost the Boro, Inc, President, Don White addressed the Bladenboro elected officials on behalf of the local non-profit for funding the painting project.

White stated the Boost the Boro members would like to request from the elected town board $1,500.00 to landscape the corner lot property at the stop light intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Main Street in Bladenboro.

White stated that the money requested for landscaping would be used on the property owned by the Town of Bladenboro and that all cost associated with the painting of the privately owned wall that borders the property would be completed with Boost the Boro funds.

Donations have been made by Woodman Life for the flags and the veterans will take care of the monuments, White explained. He continued, the lot will mirror the lot across the street, done previously by the garden club.
Town Commissioner Billy Benson stated two and a half years ago, a plan was brought to board with no cost to town for this project. Benson mentioned the project was not in the town’s budget and the money appropriated for Boost the Boro was used for Beast Fest this year. Benson suggested that each commissioner give from their discretionary funding for the money needed for the painting project.

*BladenOnline first reported the funds from the Town of Bladenboro would be used for painting the wall. The correction was made above. The town’s funding will be used for funding the landscaping, not painting the wall.
