ELIZABETHTOWN — The first half was a battle. The second half was domination.

Malcolm Bolden and Jacob Nixon each scored 13 points and Zamar Lewis had a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds to go along with four blocked shots as East Bladen topped Clinton 61-38 on Tuesday night in a boys basketball game.

The final score wouldn’t indicate the teams played to a 25-all tie in the first half. Clinton led 18-13 at the end of the first quarter and held a 25-21 lead after a pair of free throws by Jeriah Goodman with 1:38 left in the second quarter. East Bladen tied it on baskets by Lewis and Dominick Collins.

The Eagles broke it open in the third quarter, outscoring Clinton 21-2 for a 46-27 lead. East Bladen scored the final 16 points of the period and added a pair of free throws by Bolden to begin the fourth for a 21-point advantage.

East Bladen used a balanced scoring attack in the decisive third quarter. Yontee Dobson and Nixon each scored five points, Lewis had four, Bolden sank a 3-pointer and Collins and Rodney Lacewell added baskets.

Consecutive 3-pointers by Nixon midway through the fourth quarter gave East Bladen a 60-31 lead.

Bolden dished out nine assists for the Eagles and Nixon had four.

Walker Spell scored 12 points on four 3-points to lead Clinton.

The Eagles are 2-0 in the Southeastern Athletic Conference and 10-1 overall. Clinton fell to 0-2 in the conference and 3-8 overall.

East Bladen will host county rival West Bladen on Friday. The game will follow the JV boys and varsity girls games and should start about 7:30 p.m.
