The Elizabethtown-White Lake Chamber of Commerce is helping end the summer season on a good note at White Lake. This past Tuesday the chamber held their monthly meeting at Goldston’s Restaurant and this evening, the chamber will present the last of the Sunset Jams “Alive after Five” concerts.
Tuesday, the Chamber presented, Jim Godfrey, Executive Director of Mary’s Kitchen, Former Director of the Shelby Chamber of Commerce and the Kinston Chamber of Commerce as the guest speaker of their lunch and learn event. He spoke to the members about, “What a good Chamber looks like!”
A chamber of commerce is an organization built to be a community advocate. There are national, state and community chambers all across America. They should fostering economic development and business growth.
Businesses should be able to lean on their chamber of commerce for networking and marketing opportunities. Savvy residents and tourists know chambers should be the go-to place for tips on the area’s fun places to visit and upcoming events.
Our local chamber holds lunch meetings at varying locations starting at noon the second Tuesday of each month. Members are encouraged to bring guests.
Over the past few years the chamber has presented the Sunset Jams Concert Series at White Lake on Goldston’s Beach and the Summer Sounds Concert Series in Elizabethtown at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market.
Dawn Maynard who has served as the chamber’s Executive Director for more than 10 years, agreed to coordinating the concert series at both locations even though she resigned from her office in June. Maynard has been applauded for her skills at organizing these successful events.
Without further ado, the last Sunset Jams concert featuring Hip Pocket Band will be held this evening, Thursday, August 15th from 6:00 p.m. until 9 p.m.
