BUIES CREEK – Elon rallied from a 17-7 deficit in the 2nd half then stopped a potential game-winning 2-point conversion attempt late and edged Campbell 24-23 Saturday night.

A pair for Camel turnovers aided the Elon rally. After the Phoenix went up 24-17, Campbell quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams fired a 48-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Snead with 1:04 left to play to slice the lead to 24-23, but Williams was stopped short of the goal line on the 2-point conversion attempt.

Former East Bladen star Chris Cromartie made his 2nd consecutive start of the season at defensive tackle for the Camels and was credited with 2 tackles. Last week Cromartie had 4 tackles in an opening loss at Liberty.

The Camels will host Presbysterian Saturday at 6 p.m.
