BUIES CREEK – Former East Bladen star Chris Cromartie has made 9 tackles in the last 2 games for Campbell including 5 solo tackles and 2 tackles for loss. In 10 games this season, Cromartie has been credited with 38 tackles – 13 solo tackles, 2 tackles for loss for minus 8 yards and 1 fumble recovery.

Saturday on Senior Day, Cromartie had 5 tackles including 3 solo – in a narrow 28-21 Campbell loss to Hampton. On the Pirates 3rd play of the game, Cromartie sacked Hampton quarterback Jett Duhey for a 4-yard loss that forced a punt.

In the 2nd quarter, Cromartie dropped Pirate running back Tymere Robinson for a 4-yard loss. In the final period, Cromartie tackled Duhey again for no gain.

The Camels edged in front 21-20 with 6:16 left to play when quarterback Dylan Earney threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Kersey, but Duhey sneaked 1 yard for the decisive touchdown with 2:10 on the clock.

Cromartie, a senior defensive lineman, had 4 tackles the previous week in a loss to No. 3 James Madison. The Camels, now 2-4 in Big South Conference play and 3-7 overall, will close out their season Saturday at 1 p.m. against Robert Morris in Moon Township, PA.
