Erica McKoy led her Clarkton School of Discovery Lady Blue Devils to a 26-10 win over Bladenboro Middle School Tuesday afternoon in the conference opener.  McKoy had 16 of CSD’s 26 points.

With just a few seconds ticked off the clock, Clarkton’s Anna Kate White got on the board first when she hit a jumper under the basket in heavy traffic.

It was almost three minutes later before anyone else got on the board when Bladenboro’s Callie Lewis tied the score at 2-2.  White hit another jumper and McKoy threw in a three-pointer to put Clarkton in the lead, 7-2, at the end of the first quarter.

To start the second quarter, McKoy hit two free throws after being fouled.  On Clarkton’s next possession, McKoy hit another three-pointer.

Bladenboro’s Kendall Lambreth threw in a basket to trim Clarkton’s lead to 12-4 at the 3-minute mark of the second quarter.  Before halftime, McKoy hit two more jumpers and Sarah Johnson hit one to send Clarkton into the locker room at halftime with an 18-4 lead.

Bladenboro struck first in the third quarter when Lambreth hit a jumper for the Lady Bulldogs, and Clarkton’s Lorna Mendell answered with one for the Lady Blue Devils.

McKoy shot from just inside the three-point line with 1:05 left in the quarter to put Clarkton up, 22-6, going into the final six minutes.

Clarkton’s Mendell connected on a short jumper to open the fourth quarter, and Bladenboro’s Elexis Carrathers scored right behind her.

McKoy drove through the lane for a shot that put Clarkton ahead, 26-8.

Bladenboro went to the line six times in a row on foul shots, but the Lady Bulldogs couldn’t connect on a single one.  Carrathers put up the final shot for Bladenboro, but Clarkton claimed the 26-10 win.
