The Bladen County Board of Commissioners met in a special session on Monday, and voted to add a quarter-cent sales tax referendum to the November ballot. The consideration of the sales tax referendum was requested by the Bladen County Board of Education.

The funds from the sales tax referendum are to be used for “…specific projects across the County for the benefit of Bladen County Public Schools.” The Commissioners instructed the Board of Education to generate a list of specific projects where the funds will be utilized. You can read the resolution here.

This is not the first time Bladen County has attempted to pass a sales tax referendum. Voters in Bladen County have been asked to pass a sales tax referendum six times, and each time it has failed to pass.
