This creamy and cheesy pasta is a classic favorite that’s perfect for a comforting meal during the cold winter months.
Ingredients:
- 12 ounces (340g) fettuccine pasta
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Cook the Pasta:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water, and set aside.
2. Prepare the Sauce:
In a large skillet or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.
3. Add Cream and Cheese:
Reduce the heat to low, then pour in the heavy cream. Stir continuously until the cream is warmed through, about 2-3 minutes. Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring constantly until the cheese is melted and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a little of the reserved pasta cooking water to reach your desired consistency.
4. Season and Combine:
Season the sauce with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Keep in mind that Parmesan cheese is salty, so be cautious with the amount of added salt.
5. Combine with Pasta:
Add the cooked and drained fettuccine pasta to the creamy sauce in the skillet. Toss the pasta until it’s well coated with the sauce, ensuring that every strand is creamy and flavorful.
6. Serve:
Garnish the creamy fettuccine Alfredo with chopped fresh parsley (if desired) for a pop of color and freshness. Serve immediately, with extra grated Parmesan cheese on the side for those who want an extra cheesy kick.
7. Enjoy:
Enjoy your comforting and creamy fettuccine Alfredo as a satisfying winter pasta dish. It pairs wonderfully with a simple green salad or some garlic bread for a complete meal.
This classic pasta dish is sure to please your taste buds and provide the warmth and comfort you crave during the cold winter season.
