CLARKTON – Elizabethtown rolled past Columbus County 16-1 Sunday in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 AA (Coach-Pitch) Supplemental Tournament.
Claxton Tatum led off the Elizabethtown first with a single, and Braylon Cromartie followed with a single. Jackson Smith drove in Tatum with a single, and Brady Marlowe knocked in Cromartie with a single. Gavin Elks belted a single to drive in Smith.
Wilson Clifton hammered a triple that scored Marlowe and Elks. Niyah Wooten smashed a double that plated Clifton, and Inman Carson walloped a triple that brought home Wooten for a 7-1 Elizabethtown lead.
Tyler Eason, Omar Powell and Collin Cole started the Elizabethtown second inning with singles. Cole’s hit drove in Eason. Tatum slammed a double that scored Powell, and Cromartie delivered a 2-run single that plated Cole and Tatum.
Marlowe blasted a 2-run home run that scored Cromartie ahead of him. Elks, Conner Hill and Wilson Clifton connected for singles that loaded the bases, before Wooten belted a single that scored Elks for a 14-1 lead.
Carson and Eason raked singles to start the Elizabethtown third inning. Cole cracked a single that scored Carson, and Eason raced home on an error with the run that sealed the mercy-rule victory.
Marlowe slugged the home run, batted 2-2, drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Tatum doubled twice in 2 at-bats, scored 2 runs and had a run batted in. Clifton was 2-2 with a triple, 2 rbi’s and a run scored.
Carson also batted 2-2 with a triple, an rbi and a run scored. Wooten finished 2-2 at the plate with a double, 2 rbi’s and a run scored. Eason was 2-2 with 2 runs scored.
Cromartie batted 2-2 with 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Elks finished 2-2 at the plate with an rbi and 2 runs scored. Cole was 2-2 with 2 rbi’s and a run scored.
Smith singled in a run and scored one. Conner Hill and Omar Powell added one hit each, and Powell scored a run.
The Elizabethtown All-Stars lost 5-0 to West Robeson American Monday night and will play a semi-final game against Whiteville Optimist Tuesday at 6 p.m.
