Elizabethtown pounded out 13 hits and piled up 20 runs en route to a 20-3 victory over West Robeson National Sunday night in the District 9 Minors Tournament at Red Springs.
With the victory Elizabethtown is the only unbeaten team remaining in the tournament and will play once-beaten West Robeson American Monday night at 8 p.m. in the semi-finals.
Elijah Bullard and Jackson Wright combined on a 4-inning, one-hitter for Elizabethtown. Bullard pitched the first three innings and struck out seven to pick up the win, while allowing one hit, one walk and one run. Wright struck out two in his one inning of work.
The winners scored 9 runs in the first inning, added 6 in the second and 5 more in the third.
Catcher Garrison Tatum batted a perfect 3-3 and scored 3 runs to lead the Elizabethtown attack. Teammates Ryan Johnson and Zamar Lewis were also perfect at the plate as both batted 2-2. Johnson scored 3 runs and Lewis scored once.
Coleman Tatum batted 2-3 for the winners and scored a run. Teammates Bullard, Wright, Evan Pait and Walker Ward connected for one hit each. Ward scored 3 runs, and Bullard, Wright and Tyrone Mathis scored 2 runs each. Pait and Tyler Johnson scored one run each.
