Dr. Robert Taylor addresses Bladenboro Rotary.
Dr. Robert Taylor, Superintendent Bladen County Schools, presented an informative program at the April 3rd meeting of the Bladenboro Rotary Club.
The focal point of his presentation centered around supporting children in our school district. Dr. Taylor shared several points of interest as to how the school system was achieving this goal. He stressed the number one priority was school safety.
Dr. Taylor indicated that the dropout rate was down and graduation rate was up at both high schools. He, also mentioned the implementation of several relatively new programs that encompass a more diverse group of students such as STEM technologies, CTE courses (Fire Fighter Academy and welding), a No Cost Breakfast/No Cost Lunch program, a proposal for an end of the day meal, and a summer feed program.
Dr. Taylor closed with comments on consolidation, the need for qualified teachers, and more funding.
