humble-tipDublin First Baptist Church is hosting The Fifth Quarter on Friday night beginning at about 9:30 p.m. The event is open to all Bladen County students from 7th through 12th grades.

“As soon as the game at West Bladen High School ends, students are invited to come out to the church,” said Mark Gregory.

He said there will be games, basketball, volleyball, glow-in-the-dark frisbee, pizza, and at 10 p.m. the rapper Humble Tip will be performing. He got his start after meeting Perry Tankard who goes by the rap name of DJ PDOGG while they were both attending classes at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. Humble Tip convinced DJ PDOGG to give him and opportunity to showcase his talent.

Gregory said that Humble Tip not only is a talented musician but also delivers a powerful message to students.

“He uses Christian rap music to reach kids that Pastors can’t reach,” said Gregory.

He also brings the kids on stage and teaches them dance moves and then declares someone the winner.

Gregory said the event will wrap up with a bonfire in the field behind the church at about midnight.

The event is sponsored by the Bladen Baptist Association and other area churches are assisting with the event, said Gregory.

For more information, call the church at 910-862-2277.
