WHITEVILLE – Elizabethtown defeated Bladen County 20-1 Saturday in the opening round of the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 AA (Coach-Pitch) Supplemental Tournament.

Elizabethtown jumped in front with a six-run first-inning. Liam Heath, Landon Pusey, Greylon Robinson, Maddox Thornton, John High, Abijah Rhoda and Isaiah Lloyd all belted hits, and Heath, Pusey, Robinson, Thornton, High and Rhoda all scored runs.

Cooper Mills and Bradley Willis smacked hits in the Bladen half of the first, and Mills scored the Bladen County run.

Elizabethtown pulled away with a sevem-run second inning. Lyrik Lawson and Pusey started the inning with hits, and Robinson blasted a three-run home run. Thornton, High and Owen Hall followed with hits, and Rhoda walloped a three-run homer.

After a scoreless third inning, Elizabethtown scored seven runs in the fourth inning. Heath, Pusey, Thornton, High, Hall, Rhoda, Lloyd, Hayes Clifton and Sawyer Barbour connected for hits in the inning, and Heath, Pusey, Thornton, High, Hall, Rhoda and Lloyd scored runs.

Rhoda batted 3-for-3 with the home run and three runs scored to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Pusey, Thornton and High also batted 3-for-3 and scored three runs each. Robinson slugged the home run, batted 2-for-3 and scored twice.

Heath, Hall, Lloyd, Clifton and Lawson also batted 2-for-3. Barbour added one hit to the winners’ attack. Heath and Hall scored two runs each, and Lloyd and Lawson scored one run each.

Mills, Rorick, Bradley Willis and Malakye Rogers cracked one hit each for Bladen County. Mills scored the Bladen run.

Bladen County will play Whiteville at 3 p.m. Sunday. Elizabethtown will play Whiteville at 6:30 Monday night.
