PEMBROKE – Fairmont rallied from a 4-2 deficit to defeat Elizabethtown 7-5 Monday night in an elimination game in the Diamond Youth Baseball District 9 Majors Tournament.

Owen Hall drew a lead-off walk and scored on a passed ball in the Elizabethtown 1st. Damion Maynor walked, and Khalil Moore scorched a double to left. Maynor dashed home on a passed ball, and Moore scored on an error for a 3-0 Elizabethtown lead.

Fairmont capitalized on 2 errors, a passed ball and a wild pitch to trim the margin to 3-2 in the bottom of the inning.

Aiden Wooten raced to 2nd base on an error in the Elizabethtown 3rd inning. Colt Lewis smoked a single to center field, and Wooten dashed home on Moore’s sacrifice fly to pad the lead to 4-2.

A walk, a hit batter and 2 hits produced 2 Fairmont runs in the 4th inning and tied the game 4-4. Three walks and 2 errors plated 3 more Fairmont runs in the 5th inning for a 7-4 lead.

Lewis reached base on a Fairmont error in the 6th inning and circled the bases on a passed ball and 2 wild pitches to narrow the gap to 7-5.

Moore doubled, scored a run and had an RBI to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Lewis singled and scored a run. Hall, Wooten, and Maynor scored 1 run each.

Lewis started on the mound for Elizabethtown and allowed 5 runs – 2 earned – on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 11. Moore walked the 2 batters he faced in relief and allowed 2 runs. Maynor pitched the final 0.2 scoreless innings allowing no hits and striking out 1.
