Bladen County Fire Marshal worked with North Carolina Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey to insure East Arcadia Fire Department would received a 5000 dollar grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) for needed Person Protection Equipment (PPE).
Commissioner Causey delivered the grant funds from BCBS to Bladen County volunteer fire departments in June of this year, but East Arcadia had not applied for the grant at the time. The fire departments that qualify for the grants received less than $50,000 from municipal and county governments and applied for the grants. Clark said in June he would contact East Arcadia Fire Chief Horace Munn to help East Arcadia receive the grant funding available.
Commissioner Causey and Brian Taylor with the North Carolina Department of Insurance delivered the $5,000 grant funds from BCBS to East Arcadia Fire Chief, Horace Munn, today in Robeson County.
Insurance Commissioner Causey made stops at Robeson County insurance agencies and fire stations on today presenting 20 grant checks.
In May, Commissioner Causey announced that Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina donated $500,000 to assist rural volunteer fire departments as part of their Rural NC Initiative for 2020.
