The East Bladen girls’ soccer team will travel to Wake Forest on Monday to play the Franklin Academy Patriots in the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A playoffs.
Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. Franklin Academy’s home field is located at 648 Flaherty Avenue, Wake Forest. If the field is deemed unplayable because of potential weekend rain, the game will be played at NRCA field, 7300 Perry Creek Rd., Raleigh.
Admission to the game will be $7 cash.
East Bladen advanced with a 2-1 win against North Johnston on Thursday in Kenly. Iveonna “NeNe” Ward netted a pair of first-half goals for the Eagles.
East Bladen is seeded 13th in the 32-team 2A East bracket. The Eagles have won 10 straight and are 15-3-1 overall. East Bladen has outscored its opponents 44-22, including 35-3 during its current winning streak.
No. 12 seed Franklin Academy is 17-5 and defeated No. 5 Roanoke Rapids 5-2 on Thursday. The Patriots finishd second to Raleigh Charter in the Super Six 1A/2A Conference. Franklin Academy has outscored its opponents 88-27.
One of the Patriots’ losses came May 5 against No. 1 seed Clinton 2-1. The Southeastern Athletic Conference champion Dark Horses defeated East Bladen 7-0 and 9-1 during the regular season.
